Learn how to make rich and delicious Butter Cake.

Baking Time: 45 to 50 minutes
Makes: 9″ cake
- All purpose flour – 200 gms(1 and 1/3 cups ,without sifting)
- Baking powder- 1.5 tsp
- Salt – 1 pinch
- Unsalted Butter – 200 gms( at room temperature)
- Powdered Sugar- 200 gms
- Pure Vanilla Extract – 1.5 tsp
- Egg,medium – 4 (at room temperature)
- Luke Warm milk – 3 to 4 tbsp
Preheat oven to 180 deg C.Line a 9″ pan with parchment paper and set aside.Sift together all purpose flour,baking powder and salt 2 to 3 times.Set aside until required.In a large mixing bowl add the room temperature butter.
Add the powdered sugar and whisk for few minutes until pale and fluffy.Scrape the sides in between.
Add vanilla extract and whisk well.Crack the eggs open and pour the yolks and whites into a bowl.
Add one egg at a time ,into the butter -sugar mixture and whisk well, until combined.Scrape the sides of the bowl before adding each egg.
After adding all the four eggs ,beat the mixture until creamy.
Next sieve in 1/3 rd of the flour mixture and gently fold in until combined.Scrape the sides of the bowl and repeat with the remaining flour.Do not over mix.
Once the flour is well combined add the milk 1 tbsp at a time and mix gently to form a smooth and creamy batter .
Immediately transfer the batter to the prepared pan and level the surface using a spatula.
Bake for about 45 to 50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.Remove the cake from the pan ,peel off the parchment paper and cool completely. Level the top using a serrated knife and frost the cake with butter cream or whipped cream,if desired.
